Kimberli Munkres: Bio

Kimberli is the coauthor of Beyond the Press Release: A Public Relations Handbook for Nonprofits.  She is an avid believer in the power of public relations to change the way people think.  She embraces the idea of being engaged in the surrounding world to create synergy between company objectives and stakeholder needs.

Her background includes public and media relations, research, strategic and creative development, Internet marketing and branding for a variety of industries including software, emerging technologies, public affairs/nonprofits, professional services and publishing.

Prior to founding ThunderWheel Communications, Kimberli was director of public relations and senior strategist for Wilkin Guge Marketing, Inland Southern California’s premier integrated marketing and brand development agency.  Known for integrated, ROI-focused campaigns, she led the marketing teams for clients such as University of La Verne College of Law, Glencrest Investment Advisors, Ontario Visitors and Convention Bureau, The Business Press, California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and Avalon Shutters.

Before joining Wilkin Guge marketing, Kimberli ran her own public relations/marketing communications agency in Sonoma County as well as in Southern California. There,  her account experience included O'Reilly & Associates, Advanced Fibre Communications, Technicolor, Lawson Software, Visionary Logic Inc., Voice Activated Systems Technology Creative Property Services, Health & Home Solutions, L’Monte Information Services, Sonoma County Community Foundation, Sonoma County Commission on the Status of Women, SofTECH, Canine Companions for Independence, 21st Century Medicine and Rehabilitation Technology Works (RTW).

SheKimberli co-founded SofTECH, the North Bay Information & Technology Association, where she served as vice president of public relations for and co-developed the public relations special information group. She also lectures and teaches workshops on public relations strategies and tactics for businesses and nonprofits.
